Gouty Arthritis
Many patients who are overweight offer suffer from the painful affects of Gouty arthritis. Gouty arthritis is the build up of uric acid in the joints. Most commonly affected are the feet and legs. The uric acid is unable to be passed to the kidneys. Often considered an affliction for the obese, Gouty arthritis also affects diabetics, people with kidney disease and even people who suffer from sickle cell anemia.
In the acute phase, Gouty arthritis begins to hinder flexion or movement within the joints. Pain at night during rest is often throbbing or excruciating to the patient. Inflammation begins to circle the infected area and it becomes tender to the touch. Eventually it will subside and re-evolve sporadically. Later attacks will have longer duration and become more chronic if left undiagnosed and treated.
Gouty arthritis has been associated with obese males, menopausal women and diabetics.
Some of the common symptoms of Gouty arthritis are:
· Joint Pain (Across Body) · Mostly affected are joints inside of the leg · Swelling and inflammation · Stiffness and pain · High persistent fever
Although there is no 100% cure available, treatment is sought after to reduce the effects of Gouty arthritis joint pain. Some medications can provide some relief but depending if the condition is labeled chronic medication can only help so much.
